Creative Project Realization: Plan for this film

Here are some points regarding my film idea that I have currently planned / thought about. This is in no way definitive but I am using it as a starting point in order to flesh out my ideas.

 - I would like to shoot this film in black & white or at least with very little saturation.

 - Currently I would like to keep the camera still at a fixed angle, portraying the room from the same spot as my character moves and interacts within it. This will be hard to pull off and will require a great deal of thought but at the moment I am planning a long shot so that there is space for the man as well as the room around him. The more space the better.

 - I will try my best to follow the rule of thirds as well as using my props and mise-en-scene to craft a familiar look between each different room. I want this to flow naturally and not distract the audience as I transition from room to room.

 - Lighting shall be low but will differ depending on the room and the man. I want everything within this piece to reflect his mood and emotions and lighting will help me create this atmosphere. I will also use lighting to create shadows that play a role in the piece. Additionally I would like to have a swinging bulb in order to create a moving source of light that evokes the certain themes of each room.

 - I think my piece will remain abstract. I have no plot lined out, rather I have a sequence of events that will culminate at the end. This is more a conceptual piece of work rather than a non-linear narrative.

 - I think I will stick with 16:9 aspect ratio but am going to consider using a wider screen ratio if it suits my needs.

 - I would love to overlay some footage at certain points in the piece to highlight a particular factor or theme as it is being explored. For example I want a frantically moving / twitching eye to play a role in the madness room as well as an hourglass slowly pouring away during the stress room.

 - Sound will not be synched in this piece, I would like to create soundscapes for each room which help identify the themes to the audience.

 - I think I will break the fourth wall at times but I want to keep this subtle if I can. For example when the man grooms himself in the camera ad also the last room being a viewing of the film itself.

 - I have planned for this to be an installation piece of art rather than just a film. I want to surround my audience with televisions, each beginning to play a different room from the film. Each TV will differ until the last room when I want to synch them all together as the final shot reveals the man viewing the film as if he is looking within himself but also show to the audience that they are watching him watching himself. I hope this technique will portray the intended meaning to the audience. I want them to reflect on their own mind as well as his and consider which emotions play the strongest role in the forming of their personality.
