For our two minute film we want to explore the emotions relating to fear and paranoia. Our film shall show a woman in a flat. It is a scene of an arguement and we join the woman after it is over and she is left picking up the pieces. Her fear is going to be shown through flashback vocieovers of the arguement as well as sharp cutting and extreme close ups to imply her sense of entrapment and fear. I don't want to use much dialgue, only what is needed to suggest an arguement that led to some form of domestic abuse. We will fill the time with shots of her attempting to clean the flat and to cover up her injuries in order to escape from the immediate fear she has of her partner. I'd like to end the two minute piece by having him return home, some sort of climatic ending would be nice as I don't feel her fears should be irrational and I feel it is important that her actions seem genuine to the audience.
With that said I would like to focus heavily on the use of sound in this piece, for example heartbeats and heavy breathing can be used to imply her heightend state of shock and fear as well as give the film a tonal quality that puts the audience in her shoes. Important actions that I feel we should show are her touching up her make up to cover a bruise, cleaning and tidying of glasses would imply she is not the dominant figure in the relationship as well as focus on her stress and inability to complete these tasks due to her fears (such as dropping a glass if she hears a sound, panicing and pacing around the room). I think time will also play a role in the piece as we can use the sound of ticking clocks and the imagery of a clockface to imply she is awaitng his return, both anticipating it and fearing it.
