Drama: Alternative Ending
Okay so during the course of this production I had another thought about the ending of the film. At the time i was really happy with my original ending so put it to one side but after shooting I returned to the idea. I did this because I feel the ending of our movie could be scarier and I thought about a technique involving shadows which could have given our movie a freaky edge in it's finale.
My idea goes that the film would reach the point f the final confrontation between Adam and Lily, right before she kills him. As opposed to the shot panning away from them and showing the market hallway I devised that instead we shoot Adam cowering in the corner he is trapped in, doing his lines as before but this time, rather than showing Lily we make use of lighting and creating shadows in the shape of demonic wings spreading out from Lily's body and enveloping Adam in darkness. We then cut, on Lily's final words, to a shot of his torch falling to the ground and rolling as the Market's lights flicker on and off. Adam screams and the light returns, the torch still in focus but now Adam's petrified, dead face in the background. We see a large, black and hunched figure drag his body away into the background. Presumably to the depths of the market.
I like this idea as I feel it is more horrifying and eludes strongly to idea that Adam has been claimed by the succubus and is now forever a part of market's history.
