Drama: Themes - Succubus / Mythology

In folklore a Succubus is a female demon or supernatural entity that appears in dreams, and attempts to lure and seduce men in order to attain power over them. More contemporary representations show a Succubus as a powerful, yet beautiful seductress, as opposed to the more traditional frightening apparition.In the Bible, Lilith, Adam's first wife, becomes a succubus. This happens after she sleeps with archangel Samael and refuses to return to the Garden of Eden and she was not the only one, there were four others. These four became the original queens to the demon Lilith. In the Qarinah, Succubi are depicted as lone women, draped in a white saree with long untied hair. They are known to haunt lonely paths or roads having been subject to torment and death at the hands of a male. For this reason they seek revenge on any male. As you can see i have tried to relate this mythology into our movie. The protagonist's name is Adam, which reflects Lilith's Husband, her original love. The descriptions and motives of Succubi in the Qarinah is where I drew my inspiration for Lily's character as well as using elements of the wide range of folklore to craft my dialogue.

Here is a clip from the film, V/H/S which relates to my idea. The woman in this piece is likened to a Succubus and I think the tone and expressions she portrays really suit the character and her motives. The haunting 'I like you' really resonates with me and my story.
