Experimental: Dreams by Akira Kurosawa

Dreams (1990) is a film by Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. It portrays a series of dreams that Kurosawa had himself each one differing greatly from the others. The story itself is vague and the narrative doesn't progress in a convention film sense other than the dreams being shown in the order (age) at which Kurosawa had them. For example the first dream shows him as a young boy in rural Japan. This movie gave me lots of ideas for our short film particularly the idea of using actual dreams that both me and Aaron have had as a way of giving the film a sense of realism. Akira creates a surreal experience (as you can see in the screenshots below) which is something I would like to evoke with our film in order to detach our audience from reality whilst also proposing the questions about perception and reality.
